Buckeye Brownies
Growing up in the “Buckeye State”, buckeye candy is a staple for most holidays and parties. This year for Christmas at work, we even had a competition to see who made the best buckeyes. We are a very competitive state, apparently, whether it’s in sports or in cooking.
Buckeyes, as we call them & eat them, are a mixture of peanut butter, butter, & powdered sugar made into a batter, rolled into balls and then dipped in chocolate. The name comes from the fact that once they set up, they resemble a buckeye nut.
I maintain that anytime peanut butter and chocolate are combined, you can’t go wrong.
I’ve seen numerous recipes for these brownies online, and while all of them have the concept right, I think it’s the topping on mine that “take the cake”. The mixture of peanut butter and chocolate in the topping, paired with the brownie and peanut butter underneath, just seem to make all the difference.
I’ve never had a Buckeye Brownie competition with anyone, but I (excuse me if I sound overly confident) truly believe it’s the secret topping- that I’m sharing with you all- that makes these the Best Damn Buckeye Brownies in the Land. (Y’all Ohio State fans get it, I’m sure.)
Try these out, and let me know how you like them. I’m sure that you’ll love them.
Brownies are quick to make (for most) but the little bit of added time to top them with the peanut butter and chocolate make a snack into a delicacy.

Looks so delicious! I think I’m going to try making it since your recipe didn’t call for flour (on a gluten free diet).
Thanks so stopping by Sharon!! I don’t see any issue with swapping out the brownies for a gluten-free mix. Or your own recipe for gluten free. Good luck. Let us know if you try the gluten free version and how it turns out!! *Hugs*
