DIY Pottery Barn® Inspired Toilet Bowl Cleaner
For years, I would wander into Pottery Barn® just to smell the wonderful aroma of the store. It was so inviting and comfortable on their showroom, even though every time I saw a price tag that was way over anything I will ever have a budget for I would have heart palpitations. I just kept going back into their store because of the scent.
I really wanted to repeat that heavenly smell in my own home, and I finally have figured out how to do it!!
Pottery Barn smells like Rosemary, Lemon, and Vanilla. Seriously?? Those three scents mixed together is all that it is!!
Enter in my obsession with making my own, chemical-free cleaning supplies, and viola! My DIY Toilet Bowl Cleaner… that also makes your potty smell like Pottery Barn®!!
First things first: gather your supplies.
You will need:
♥a cheap box of baking soda
I got mine 4 for $1 on sale at Dollar General
I keep small glass bottles in both bathrooms for cleaning
♥a regular mouth glass canning jar
I love these!!
♥the lid from a Parmesan cheese container
see note below
♥Rosemary essential oil
♥Lemon essential oil
I use fragrance oil, but real vanilla extract will work also. Here is the exact oil I use.
I really don’t like using the weird, plastic packaged, shaker jar of cheese that apparently does not need refrigerated. (What is THAT about?) City Spouse, however, loves the stuff so I usually have it on hand for him to drown his spaghetti in. I do, however, love the fact that once he finishes off the bottle, I have a cute, functional shaker top for any of my cleaning or craft needs.
Measure about 2 cups of baking soda into the glass canning jar. (Do not fill completely, as we want to have room to shake it to distribute the oils.) Next, add 10 drops of Rosemary essential oil, 10 drops of Lemon essential oil and 3 drops of Vanilla fragrance oil (approx 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, if you choose to use that instead).
Screw on the lid, and shake the Dickens out of it.
Now, to actually USE it:
⇒Sprinkle a moderate amount of the baking soda into the toilet bowl.
⇒Pour in about 1/2- 1 cup of vinegar.
⇒Let it fizz and sit a few minutes.
⇒Swish & scrub the bowl as you normally do to clean it.
⇒Flush and enjoy the Pottery Barn® scent!!
