My Daily Cleaning Routine
with FREE PRINTABLES!
Country Mouse City Spouse
Some time ago, I posted Keeping a Clean House When You Don’t Have Time. In that post, I mentioned that the key (in my opinion) is to have routines and a schedule to stick by. Anything can be turned into a habit- even the most menial of chores.
With that said, I want to share with you the specific things that I do each and every day to help keep my home from getting completely out of control…. which can easily happen around here.
First off, I want to remind you all that I am more of a morning person than a night owl, which is why each morning you will see the Free eBooks list posted bright and early. I love to sit down and make sure I don’t miss out on any book that I may want for free. (Ok, that makes me sound super cheap, but I read like other people watch television.) So, each morning I sit down here at my desk with my cup of coffee and find and share those with you.
As soon as I have completed that, I launch into my household tasks.
Before work, I don’t get much done, especially if I happen to wake up late or there is another pressing task on my to-do list for the day (made the night before).
Each morning, I empty the dishwasher from the previous night. I like coming home to an empty dishwasher and a clean sink. I feel like cooking when I get to mess up a clean kitchen. (Ah- it’s the little things.)
I then make the bed and take any laundry upstairs down to the laundry room. I like to do this each day so that once a bag in the sorter gets full (I have this one, and LOVE it) I just toss a load in so that I don’t have to spend all day during the weekend stressing about laundry.
Then I shower and wipe down the bathroom as I get ready to head off to my day job.
Fast forward 9 hours later to when I finally get back home sweet home…
Because we always grab the mail as soon as we walk in the door, (and because City Spouse will just randomly toss it somewhere and I don’t find it for days) I sort all of our incoming paper then. I find it’s easier to just toss what is junk, throw my mail in my file, City Spouse’s in his file, and bills into the “To Scan” file folder right away.
Then I have a couple hours to do whatever I so desire (or is required of me) until I start cooking supper.
I tend to load the dishwasher as I cook, but after dinner, I load it and make sure it gets set to run overnight. Then I wipe the counters, sweep the floor and check to see if the trash needs to go out or if the compost bucket needs ran out to the pile.
Altogether this takes me less than an hour a day, and it really saves me tons of hassle and time later down the road. Sorry, but I do NOT want to be cleaning up a week’s worth of paper on my weekend!!
Below are the FREE PRINTABLES I promised you. Each has the sizes listed in its caption. Just click on the size(s) you would like to open the .jpeg in a new window and save to your own computer.
